Welcome to IFMA-CT The goals of the Connecticut chapter of IFMA are to promote the Facility Management profession in the state of Connecticut, provide a forum for education and training programs pertinent to the practice of Facility Management and though our monthly meetings networking and information sharing opportunities. The IFMA Connecticut Chapter board is dedicated to working more closely with you the members. This is the year to take advantage of what we offer! We hope to see you at the meetings! President’s Letter Greetings to all of our IFMA Connecticut Chapter members. I have felt blessed and welcomed into this chapter. I want to personally thank all of the executive board and committee members for the outstanding hard work these past years. As we all know, finding time to volunteer seems to fall short on our list of free time. I appreciate all the effort that you have done to keep this chapter alive. As I step into my new role with the organization I am looking forward to driving this chapter forward with quality programs, educational opportunities, and strategic planning. Taking on this role is important to me, as facility managers in today’s market we have to focus on the core competencies that drive our industry; real estate, planning and project management, leadership and development, operations and maintenance, technology, environmental health and safety, finance, quality assessment and communication.. I want this chapter to be a resource for both professionals and associate members. With so many challenges that face us today, having a local chapter of IFMA that has so many talented professional and associate members reassures us the we are not alone and many of the challenges and obstacles we face, have also been encountered by other FM professionals and we are all here to help and lend a hand in solving FM obstacles we face in our everyday travels. As I look back on the past year, what immediately comes to mind is the missed opportunity to get more professional members involved in our chapter’s activities? I am always puzzled by the lack of participation from many of the Facility Managers. I know we are all busy, no one knows that more than me, but there is great value that comes with participation: networking saves time finding ideas or providers, formal and informal mentoring helps with career advancement, and meeting new people expands your list of business friends. In closing, this chapter’s success is built on the volunteer’s. If you are interested in becoming involved and being part of a winning team, we are always in need of help. Feel free to call me anytime, or attend an open board meeting. I look forward to a successful year and hope you do as well. Best Regards, Tony Miele, CFM, FMP JOB BANK The Chapter maintains a listing of positions that are available and members looking for positions to try to match the two.
